Sep 16 2012 |

If you’re new to the game of poker, or even if you’ve been playing forever, poker forums are some of the best ways to get advice, strategies, and tips from players just like you.

Most forums are free to use and easy to sign up for. Just log into the forum’s website (Twoplustwo, Cardschat, PokerStrategyForums, etc.) and go to the registration section. Most of the time it will be around the spot where existing members log in. You will have to agree to the terms and conditions for the website in order to complete the registration. This is just a list of rules that you will need to abide by to be a member in the forum. Then fill out your personal information and allow it to process.

After that, you should be able to access any posts on the site and start participating in discussions. It can be helpful and even fun after awhile. The benefit of an online poker forum is having a community of people to share ideas with. You can find information about anything and everything on a poker forum. From pot odds to bad beats to the love of the game, forums are the perfect way to learn about strategies that you may not be knowledgeable about. It’s also a great way to voice your opinion about a topic that you’re familiar with, or ask a question that you think hasn’t been addressed yet.

Certainly you’ll run into some people who disagree with you. Along the way to finding a good forum or even after you find one, you’ll find people within the site with opposing views. As long as you see it as constructive criticism and don’t take the comments as a personal attack on you or your strategy, there shouldn’t be a problem. With any game that is such a delicate combination of strategy and chance, there will be difference in opinion as to how to prioritize the strategy part.

Finding a good forum for your needs may seem a little overwhelming at first because there is so much online to choose from. The great thing is that since it’s free, you can test out multiple forums without having any side effects. It may take a little time to find just the right one, but as they always say…the best things in life are worth the wait.
